The halfway mark of the year has a way of sneaking up on us – time really does fly, and sometimes it feels like our goals are flying right out the window with it.
But here’s the thing: just like we tend to hit the ground running in January with big intentions and shiny new planners, July invites us to slow down and reflect on how far we’ve come. A built-in pause, if you will; a gentle nudge from the calendar to take a breath, look back, and decide how we want to move forward. With six months behind us and six months ahead, this moment offers space to breathe and ask the question: How am I really doing?
Whether your year so far has been productive, messy, magical, or somewhere in between, this is the time to check in with the version of you that’s still unfolding.

A mid-year check-in matters more than you think. Think of it as halftime in the game of your year. Coaches don’t skip halftime. They huddle with their team, consider on what’s working, adjust the game plan, and rally forward. You deserve that same space.
Six months is long enough to have made progress and short enough to still shape what’s ahead. Maybe your January self set some goals that no longer quite fit who you are now – and that’s okay. You’ve grown and changed, which means your goals should too. Taking time to look back gives you the opportunity to celebrate the wins, big or small. By celebrating how far you’ve come and learning from what hasn’t gone to plan, you create momentum for what’s next – gentle shifts, clearer intentions, and aligning your actions with what matters most.
So, what does it actually look like to recalibrate your year? Here’s a simple guide to pressing reset without the pressure…
- Acknowledge your wins. Celebrate your progress. It all counts.
- Revisit and refine your goals. Let go of what isn’t working. It’s okay to change course.
- Set fresh intentions. What do you want more of in the next six months?
- Practice self-compassion. You’re learning, evolving, and doing your best. That’s all that matters.

Now let’s get personal. Here are a few questions to help guide your reflection.
No pressure. No perfect answers. Just be honest with yourself. You don’t even have to answer them all at once. You might find clarity just sitting with one or two for a while.
- What am I proud of accomplishing so far this year?
- Where have I felt most energized or fulfilled?
- What challenges have I faced? What have I learned from them?
- Which habits or routines have helped me grow? Which ones have held me back?
- Are my current goals still meaningful and relevant to me?
- How do I want to feel for the rest of the year?
- What’s one small thing I can do this week to move in that direction?
